Come out for a beautiful spring afternoon, enjoy a delicious cookout, and tons of fun for children and adults!
Lag BaOmer commemorates a joyous event and is a day of Jewish unity. The Talmud relates that in the 7 weeks between Passover and Shavuot, a plague raged amongst the disciples of the great sage Rabbi Akiva “because they did not act respectfully towards each other.” These 7 weeks are therefore observed as a period of mourning. On Lag BaOmer, the dying of his students ceased.
Thus, Lag BaOmer carries the theme of "Ahavat Yisrael," the imperative to love and respect one's fellow. One way to do this is by going out to the park together with family and friends, with no other agenda in mind, other than simply spending time together, enjoying and appreciating each other’s company.
